Gender affirming care saves lives!!!!

Read Exulansic Death List. Why do you want to sterilize, mutilate & covertly gender convert @ risk youth while resigning them to lifetimes of hormone therapy side effects? People have lived as opposite sex always, only recently (like here) is it being touted by for-profit indu$try.

I am curious about a study that was referenced in a hearing for a bill that would not allow gender affirming hormones or puberty blockers for minors. It seems to indicate that gender reassignment surgery creates a bigger risk for suicide than no surgery. While this obviously deals with adults, it was part of an overall gender health scare tactic.

Examining gender-specific mental health risks after gender-affirming surgery: a national database study in the Journal of Sexual Medicine

That study has been misrepresented. The control group included both those who wanted surgery and those who did not, which is not a clinically-relevant control group.

The appropriate control group is those who desired but weren't able to access surgery. A study in JAMA Surgery that used the correct control group found that access to surgery was associated with lower odds of suicidality: https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamasurgery/fullarticle/2779429

As a footnote, IIRC the authors of that misrepresented study said in their conclusion that it reveals nothing about GAS causing any increase in suicide, for just the reason you cite.

Thank you! So much misinformation and poor studies out there. I love your book, by the way and have used it when I testify.

Mutilation saves lives, sure😂.

If you have to mischaracterize evidence-based medical treatment as “mutilation” to make your point, it suggests your argument cannot stand on its own.

Gender-affirming care is not cosmetic. It is life-saving for many people. Pretending otherwise does not change the reality. It only reveals your unwillingness to face it.

Really? How are sterilizing elective mastectomies, hysterectomies & "bottom surgeries" not cosmetic and/or mutilation?

The evidence is readily available elsewhere, check the # of civil suits ongoing.

I could go into pages of discussion on the total illogic and unreality of the gender movement but I won’t waste my time or yours. In the end these individuals end up as failed experiments of neither sex. They know it, and the medical community knows it, but they don’t admit it and expect everyone to play along with the illusion.

Rowling stated "gender-affirming care" is doing more harm than last century's lobotomies & false recovered memory therapy combined. Puberty blockers impact bone & brain development.

What a great resource for combating the flawed studies and outright lies that are out there. My daughter and I have participated in one of the studies you cite for years. I’m glad to see there are so many more studies available to draw on.

I’m a therapist working with a 17 year old who has expressed his dire need for testosterone. His parents seem supportive in every other way of who he is- use his correct pronouns, purchase him binders. But they’re worried he’ll have regrets despite evidence that less than 1% express regret. They requested I work with him on his self confidence and maybe have another family session (the one family sesh we did have caused him great distress). I responded before we look at another approach or family session, they meet with a gender affirming provider to talk about T. I worry when I push they might consider taking him out of therapy but…I can’t do him justice otherwise.

Does that 1% include those who die from sepsis or suicide post-surgery? Detransitioner interviews, Andrew Gold's Heretics YouTube.

Now that this rando has offered his bizarre take, I guess I'll disregard the advice of my kids' physicians and therapists, and professional associations of pediatricians and endocrinologists in Europe and the US.

This is going a little bit outside the brief, but the Canadian Pediatric Association is another gender-affirming care supporter. https://cps.ca/en/documents/position/an-affirming-approach-to-caring-for-transgender-and-gender-diverse-youth

It's never a good idea to rely on a single source, so I checked the American Psychological Association as well. Their position is pro gender-affirming care as well.

I like to check my understanding of things every so often, so I thought I'd look at the American psychiatric association's website. The guidance there supports gender affirming care. Please don't take my word for it. You can read for yourself at https://www.psychiatry.org/psychiatrists/diversity/education/transgender-and-gender-nonconforming-patients/gender-affirming-therapy

"Having eggs = woman" is as simple-minded and arbitrary a definition as "cooked egg = omelet". Dogs, flies, snakes, etc. all have eggs.
